Shirebrook Leisure Centre

Shirebrook Leisure Centre now stands at the heart of the community and plays an integral part in providing, leisure and fitness activities as well as fun and enjoyment for the whole community.

Kissingate Leisure Centre was built in 1984 as part of the Sports Council's Standardised Approach to Sports Halls (SASH). The Centre and associated land was acquired by Shirebrook Town Council and renamed Shirebrook Leisure Centre when it was relaunched in 2012.

Part funded by Bolsover District Council and Shirebrook Town Council, in its time the building was one of a new generation of value for money sports halls that was initiated by the sports Council and built to a standard design.

The facility initially comprised of a four court badminton sports hall, fitness suite, bar and small cafeteria and changing and toilet facilities, all with easy access for wheelchair users.

Since opening, the centre has grown in popularity and new facilities have been added to the centre to ensure it caters for a multitude of needs. These include a high specification glass backed squash court, a children's indoor purpose built soft play area, Boxigym, an outdoor floodlit five-a-side all weather pitch, and a state of the art skate park.
